NCC Appoints Dr. Robert Robinson as VP Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Dr. Robinson comes to NCC with a 15-year background in managing and leading diversity initiatives within higher education.

Bethlehem, PA (01/25/2021) — Following a national search, Northampton Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Robinson as its inaugural vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion. Dr. Robinson comes to NCC with a 15-year background in managing and leading diversity initiatives within higher education. Most recently, he served as director of multicultural student affairs at the University of North Georgia.

Reporting to NCC President Dr. Mark Erickson, Dr. Robinson's appointment is effective Feb. 1. "As the region's largest and most diverse college, we remain fiercely committed to enhancing our work in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the goal to ensure that every member of our campus community is embraced and honored for being authentically themselves," says Erickson. "We look forward to Robert's leadership as we build on our work in this critically important area and expand our efforts to promote the success of all members of the NCC family."

Robinson was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta as the youngest of eight children. He began his higher education journey at Coahoma Community College, Clarksdale, Miss., before earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Education degrees in counseling from Delta State University, Cleveland, Miss. He earned his doctorate in instructional leadership with a concentration in social and cultural studies from the University of Alabama. Robinson plans to relocate to the Lehigh Valley from Georgia with his wife and family.
