NCC Coach Wins Prestigious Honor

Bethlehem, PA (07/16/2018) — Associate Director of Athletics and Northampton Community College (NCC) Baseball's Head Coach, Adrian Yaguez, was awarded the ABCA/Diamond NJCAA Region G Coach of the Year. He just completed his 10th season with the Spartans, bringing the Spartans to playoffs in 9 of those 10 seasons.

"This type of recognition doesn't happen without a lot of support and effort from a lot of places. I am so extremely grateful for my wife and kids, amazing assistant coaches, players and baseball alumni, supporting parents and their sacrifices, administrative support, and of course, our athletic department leadership," says Yaguez of this honor.

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) was founded in 1945 and is a highly-regarded professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level with members in 50 states and 23 countries. Diamond Sports is a high quality baseball and softball product designer and manufacturer in southern California.

With seven Region XIX Final Four appearances, five EPAC conference championships, two Region XIX runner-up finishes, two NJCAA World Series appearances and a Region XIX Championship (2018) during his tenure, it's clear to see why Yaguez won this award.

"The ABCA/Diamond Coach of the Year Award is a well-deserved honor for Coach Yaguez. His dedication and commitment to making the baseball program at Northampton one of the best in the country is evident every day, and this award is a reflection of his efforts," says NCC Director of Athletics, Troy Tucker.

Yaguez also brought home NJCAA District Coach of the Year this year.

The National and Regional Coaches of the Year will be honored January 4, 2019 before the start of clinics at the 75th annual ABCA Convention.

Coach Yaguez says, "We are just getting started. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to lead this program and watch our men grow and develop - on the field and off - and in the classroom. The success stories are endless."
