NCC President Appointed Board Chair of CCID
Bethlehem, PA (08/23/2018) — Dr. Mark Erickson, president of Northampton Community College (NCC), was appointed as the board chair of Community Colleges for International Development (CCID). His one-year term will begin in September 2018. He has served as a member of the board since his arrival at NCC in 2012.
CCID's mission is to "help members improve practices, participate in learning communities, and collaborate to advance global opportunities at the college level." CCID has many resources for members, including a tool called PartnerFind, which allows members at institutions to partner on study abroad programming, co-circular activities, and more.
Erickson will give the welcome address at the CCID annual conference, set for February 1-4 in San Diego, California.
Carina Caldwell, interim executive director for CCID, says of Dr. Erickson's appointment, "CCID is pleased and excited to have Dr. Erickson leading the organization as the board chair for the coming year. Global learning is an essential component of higher education, and it is critical that community college students have the same access to global learning opportunities that are available at universities. In today's climate more than ever, advocating for this access is particularly crucial. I am confident that under Dr. Erickson's leadership, CCID will continue to serve a vital role in this advocacy and will continue to expand our influence and our global reach."
His other local, state, and national leadership includes serving as Chair of the Lehigh Valley Education Talent Supply Council and on the boards of the Lehigh Valley Industrial Parks, the NewYork/Pennsylvania Campus Compact, the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, the Workforce Board Lehigh Valley, and the Lehigh Valley Partnership.
