Cops 'n' Kids Reading Room to Offer Children's Programming

From sound to starlight, children will explore many topics and have fun!

Bethlehem, PA (12/27/2019) — The popular Northampton Community College (NCC) series Cops 'n' Kids returns with a fun-and-learning-filled roster of events. All events take place on Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - noon, at the Fowler Family Southside Center Cops 'n' Kids Reading Room, 511 E. Third Street, Bethlehem, unless otherwise noted.

Jan. 11. COPS!---POPS!!-- And BIKES!!! Join Bethlehem police officers, sipping hot chocolate and hearing the story Officer Buckle and Gloria. They will also show participants bicycle safety. Ages 4 and up.

Jan. 18. What's that Sound? Children will explore Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? Then they will use their senses to investigate different sounds and engineer their own instruments with staff from PBS 39. They will go on an electric journey with The Cat in the Hat Builds That App. Ages 4 and up.

Feb. 1. Star Light, Star Bright, First Star I See Tonight: Children will build their own telescopes and hear the adventure story, A Hundred Billion Stars. Ages 4 and up

Feb. 29. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: Young people will watch and help members of NCC's Hospitality Management Club make spaghetti and meatballs and a salad. Register early, as seating is limited. Perfect for the entire family.

Mar. 21. The Wearing of the Green for St. Patrick's Day: The Irish Stars Parker School of Irish Dance will teach children how to step-dance. Then, participants will enjoy Irish scones. Wear green! Ages 4 and up.

Mar. 28. Magical Adventures in Storyland: Icky Vicky and the Quest for Imagination. Senior Theatre majors from the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Arts will set children on a creative and colorful journey with Vicky and friends, including monsters, mayhem and magic. All ages.

April 11. Meet the Peep-and the Peepsmobile Too! The Peepsmobile® (Just Born Quality Confections) will stop by for a holiday visit. Children will hear a Peeps-themed story and make a craft. Ages 3 and up.

April 18. Fourteenth Annual Cops 'n' Kids Celebration of Reading: Free books, activities, reading stations, food, and entertainment. 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. No registration is required.
