NCC Joins with AGF to Advance Student Civic and Voter Engagement

The Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere Program provides resources to colleges across the nation.

Bethlehem, PA (08/20/2020) — Northampton Community College (NCC) has joined The Andrew Goodman Foundation's (AGF) Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere program, whose network includes colleges and universities across the United States.

The program partners with America's colleges and universities to provide resources, visibility, and mentoring to a national network of student leaders who involve their peers in participatory democracy through long-term voter engagement and public policy initiatives.

Campus Champion, Dr. Stanley Ebede, Director of the Center for Civic and Community Engagement, will serve as the advisor of NCC's Andrew Goodman Campus Team. Three student leaders, Autumn Cunningham, Annerys Ibes Rivera, and Taiba Sultana, have been selected to act as Ambassadors, who will carry out voter registration, education, mobilization, and advocacy activities on campus.

"This is an exciting opportunity that will support NCC's continued efforts in strengthening civic learning and democratic engagement," says Dr. Ebede.

The Campus Team will also have the opportunity to attend the annual National Civic Leadership Training Summit. Plus, the program includes NCC-wide access to a custom page on my.VoteEverywhere, a one-stop-shop for election and voter information, as well as to a texting platform, an effective avenue for the Campus Team to share important news and reminders.

AGF's Executive Director Alexandria Harris, Esq., says "I am thrilled to welcome NCC to our movement and the Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere Network. With this Campus Team's talent and energy, the student vote will reach new heights."

Through Ambassadors' on-the-ground and digital organizing efforts, the program aims toincrease the student voting rate across the nation and achieve the Foundation's mission of making young voices and votes a powerful force in democracy.

The organization is named after Andrew Goodman, a Freedom Summer volunteer and championof equality and voting rights who was murdered by the KKK in 1964 at 20 years old while registering Black Americans to vote in Mississippi.
