NCC to Offer Phlebotomy Course

Course will prepare students to take phlebotomist certification exam.

Bethlehem, PA (02/12/2020) — Northampton Community College (NCC) will offer a course in phlebotomy (blood specimen collection for tests, transfusions, research, or blood donations), Mondays through Thursdays, March 2-31, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third Street, Bethlehem.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the demand for phlebotomists will increase much faster than in other fields.

Students will spend 120 hours practicing blood collection techniques under supervision and will complete100 successful venipunctures at a clinical site. Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to sit for national certification examinations and may seek employment as phlebotomists. Additionally, students will become certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
